The Most Beautiful Woman In The History of the World

Various magzines name their most beautiful woman/man in the world. Often there are just famous actors, the flavor of the moment, sometimes it's political, nepotistic, etc. The fact is that most of the actresses today are out of a cookie mold....there are so many who look alike, who act alike and who are equally untalented. I often see the papparazzi after one of them in my neighborhood and if I bother to look, I can rarely identify the target of their flashing bulbs. I think you have to go back in filmdom history in order to seriously identify the true beauties of the screen and that is not to confuse beauty with talent, studio promotion or public popularity. To those who would say that Bette Davis or Joan Crawford were screen beauties, I would take serious issue. They were both aggressive broads, determined to succeed come hell or high water, and that they did. Other screen "legends" who were not physically beautiful were Barbara Stanwyck, Greer Garson, Claudette Colbert and so on. The legendary beauties those days did not necessarily become legendary actresses, such as Hedy Lamarr, Linda Darnell, Gene Tierney; however, their beauty endured the test of time. Lana Tuner - stunning indeed........Ava Gardner, easily among the great beauties of all time. Cyd Charisse, breathtaking...other dancers of her ilk were not great beauties, such as Shirley MacLlaine,
Mitzi Gaynor, Rita Moreno, Ann Miller or Debbie Reynolds, cute and adorable as she was. It's hard to say these days who dazzles and charises the hell out of people...there are few showstoppers.....more of the better actors are more talented than beautiful.....in fact Meryl Streep is downright homely, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Geena Davis....not beautiful but very talented. Sharon Stone is truly gorgeous to look at but there's something about her personality that's a little flakey and takes away from her mass appeal. Not to forget Sophia Loren, funny how her individual features are bad....big nose, big mouth, big teeth...but put them all together and you have one of the great beauties of all time. Jane Fonda is exquisite, I don't know if she was ever a great beauty but noone got more pulled together and looked more like a star than Jane Fonda. I feel the same about Anne Bancroft, somehow stunning and gorgeous but not really a great beauty. I guess this all comes down to the most beautiful woman in the world and I hate to state the obvious, but there has been no woman in known history as beautiful as Elizabeth Taylor. In her more youthful years, she was a jaw dropper, who's captivating beauty was a constant distraction in all areas of her life. Every feature perfectly semetrical, eyes that snapped you to attention and a presence more powerful than any queen, real or imagined. Her movies were sometimes a vehicle for her beauty and in Dr. Faustus and Cleopatra, she dazzled the world just by appearing on screen and giving the public a peek. So far, it's Elizabeth Taylor by all measures and it's not likely that a greater beauty will come along to take her place anytime in the near future.
